Maechi is a native New Yorker, a Princess Grace Award recipient (Gant Gaither Theatre Fellowship), and a graduate of The Juilliard School Drama Division.​
At Juilliard she was honored to receive the Drama Division’s  John Houseman Prize for excellence in classical theater and to accept the Joseph W. Polisi, Artist as Citizen Award at graduation.​
 A few of her favorite credits include: The Greeks Part III: The Gods (Andromache), Julius Caesar(Cassius), A Raisin in the Sun (Beneatha), Sweet (Retha), and Joe Turner’s Come and Gone (Martha).​

​Maechi spent a year at Circle in the Square Theatre School and received her BA from Temple University where she studied Theatre and African American Studies before completing her graduate level training at Juilliard.  She is a company member at The Actors Center (www.theactorscenter.org).​
