Synopsis
In Harlem, love and mischief intertwine as four young lovers flee to an enchanted enclave. There, a quarrel between the fairy king and queen unleashes chaos. A mischievous sprite named Puck, armed with a magical love potion, wreaks havoc on both humans and fairies. Meanwhile, a group of amateur actors rehearsing a play become unwitting pawns in the supernatural shenanigans. As the night unfolds, identities blur, affections shift, and reality bends. By dawn, order is restored, but all are left to wonder: was it merely a dream?

Ra’Mya Aikens is originally from Georgia and studied Theatre and Performance Studies at Kennesaw State University. In the fall, she’ll enter her third year at NYU’s Graduate Acting program. Past roles include Maude Lynn in The House That Will Not Stand and Shirley in The Fifth of July, both at NYU. She is excited to be making her professional debut!

Hi! I’m Stemarciae Bain and I’m a proud island girl from The Bahamas pursuing her goals in the Big Apple. One of my favorite roles post-graduation from AMDA was ‘Gladys’ in the Gateway Playhouse’s production of In the Heights. I’m beyond excited to be a part of this wonderful production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. I’m grateful to have worked with such talented artists on this show. Brandon Carter (Demetrius) is an actor and producer. He is an original cast member and producer of Dominique Morisseau’s Blood at the Root, and is a former Artistic Director of the American Shakespeare Center. Performances with The Classical Theatre of Harlem include The Tempest, Macbeth, The First Noel, and The Three Musketeers. Additionally, he has performed with The National Black Theatre, The Apollo Theatre, The Kennedy Center, The Market Theatre, Folger Theatre, Virginia Repertory Theatre, Firehouse Theatre, Luna Stage, and Pennsylvania Center Stage. Taylor Collier hails from Washington, DC where she trained with Dance Institute of Washington, KTM Extremes, and the Washington School of Ballet, under the direction of Rebecca Wright. She graduated summa cum laude from the Dominican University of California/Alonzo King Lines Ballet BFA Program. Additionally, she’s had the privilege to perform in Showboat at the San Francisco Opera, Black Nativity at the Penumbra Theater, Come Through with Bon Iver, and Guys and Dolls at the Guthrie Theater, Malvolio with The Classical Theatre of Harlem, and Something To Live For: Billy Strayhorn at the Pittsburgh Public Theater. When she’s not on stage, Taylor is an instructor at Harlem Pilates, and a freelance artist in New York City.

Tracy Dunbar, originally from Hazlet, New Jersey graduated with honors from Montclair State University with a BFA in Dance Performance. Tracy has had the opportunity to dance with Nimbus Dance Works, Battery Dance, Bare Dance Company, The Von Howard Project, Elisa Monte Dance, MOMIX, Site Specific Dances among others. He has also performed on cruise ships, in music videos, and various staged productions, most recently originating the role of Ernest Brown in the Pittsburgh Public Theatre’s production of Billy Strayhorn: Something to Live For. This is Tracy’s fifth production with The Classical Theatre of Harlem.

Allen gladly returns to The Classical Theatre of Harlem for a third consecutive year following TWELFTH NIGHT in 2022 (as Malvolio) and in the title role of MALVOLIO in 2023. He recently recorded the Play On podcast of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW through Next Chapter Podcasts in the role of Petruchio. Prior to that, he performed in the annual production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL at Hartford Stage as Ebenezer Scrooge and plans to return to the production in the fall. Originally from Houston, he is a US Army Infantry veteran, a 2015 Lunt-Fontanne Fellow, a 2015 3Arts Prize recipient, and a 2019 Nicholas Ruddall Prize recipient among other awards and nominations.

Mykal Kilgore is an award winning actor and a Grammy and NAACP Image Award nominated singer/songwriter. Victor Lewis Jr.

Victor began his training in Los Angeles, California at the age of thirteen he joined the dance ministry at Faithful Central Bible Church, under the direction of Ariyan A. Johnson. His other form of training derives from The Debbie Allen Dance Academy. Victor graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a Bachelor Fine Arts degree in Modern Dance. Victor is a former member of Philadanco ( The Philadelphia Dance Company). He has also performed with Eleone Dance Theatre, Rebecca Davis Dance Company, Dance Del Bello, Dissonance Dance Theatre, Classical Contemporary Ballet Theatre, and touring company Illstyles & Peace Productions in Philadelphia. Victor has choreographed repertory pieces on several dance companies such as Mutual Dance Theatre, Danco 2 (D2) and stage plays. He has also traveled internationally to teach dance and has had the pleasure with working with artist such as Keke Palmer, Jazmine Sullivan, Jill Scott, Laura Mvula and choreographers Anthony Burrell, Chuck Maldonado, Rennie Harris, George Faison and more.

Olivia London (she/her) was born a raised in Los Angeles and is so excited to be a part of this incredible production. A Midsummer Night’s Dream come true! Nisani Lopez (she/her) is a Caribbean-American dancer and movement creator from the New York Metro-Area. She began her journey at The George Washington University as a Corcoran Arts Presidential Scholar and graduated with honors in 2020, with a dual Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Dance. She later received the Nancy Diers Johnson Award for Outstanding Choreography. Nisani has collaborated with artists such as Victor Rottier, Mark Caserta, Winston Dynamite Brown, Maleek Washington, Brandon Coleman, Felipe Escalante, Elizabeth Dishman, Tiffany Rea-Fisher, Olivia Ancona, Jamel Gaines and Christopher Huggins. Currently, she is a freelance performer, movement educator and Pilates instructor.

LaTrea Rembert is an actor, singer, dancer, choreographer, and teacher based in Pittsburgh, PA who is thrilled to be making his debut with The Classical Theatre of Harlem. A graduate of Point Park University, LaTrea has danced professionally with the STAYCEE PEARL dance project for the past 10 seasons and has performed regionally with the many theater companies in Pittsburgh including City Theatre, The Pittsburgh Public, The REP, and the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera to name a few. In 2023 he served as Dell Howlett’s associate choreographer on the world premiere of Billy Strayhorn: Something To Live For with The Pittsburgh Public Theater. León Tak (he/they) is thrilled to be making his professional acting debut in CTH’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. Born and raised in Switzerland to a Dominican father and a Japanese-Brazilian mother, León is about to enter their final year at NYU’s Graduate Acting program. An actor, singer, and writer, León’s favourite roles have included: Konstantin in The Seagull, Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet, and Cutler Walpole in Shaw’s The Doctor’s Dilemma. In their spare time, León loves watching films, practicing riffs and learning new languages and dialects. They are excited to continue pursuing a career in film, theatre and music. Angelica Williams

Angelica Williams is a multifaceted performer based in New York City, with a background in both classical and contemporary acting techniques, she’s performed in various productions both in New York and London. She recently completed a one year master’s of study at The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art where she enjoyed playing roles such as Olivia in Twelfth Night, Elmire in Tartuffe, Mrs. Racket in The Belle’s Stratagem and the title role of The Duchess of Malfi. A Harlem native, she is trilled to be back home and thanks her family and friends for their constant love and support. For my Luna, titi loves you.
Victor Williams*

Victor Williams was last seen on stage at the Rattlestick Theater in Mansa Ra’s In the Southern Breeze. He has also appeared in Luck of the Irish at LCT3, Hapgood at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, A Small Fire at Playwrights Horizons and Tough Titty at the Paradise Factory Theater.
He has appeared in such television shows as the limited series “Justified: City Primeval” (FX), ”The Good Lord Bird” (Showtime), “Hunters”(Amazon), “The Sinner” (USA), “Sneaky Pete” (Amazon) and “The Affair” (Showtime).
Victor Williams is best known for his nine seasons of work on the hit television series, “The King of Queens” on CBS.

Director
Carl Cofield directed several plays for CTH before joining as a staff member in 2018. Notable directing credits for CTH include the critically acclaimed productions of Twelfth Night, The Bacchae, Antigone, Macbeth, The Tempest and Dutchman. In addition, he directed the award winning world premiere of One Night In Miami for Rogue Machine Theater and the Denver Center Theatre, A Raisin In the Sun for Two River Theater Company, The Mountaintop for Cleveland Play House, Disgraced for The Denver Center and Henry IV Part 2 for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, A Midsummer Night’s Dream for NYU and Twelfth Night for Yale Rep. He holds an MFA from Columbia University. Mr. Cofield is the dean of graduate acting at NYU.

Spanish-Chilean director. Grounds his artistic craft in the pursuit of a distinct, novel, and bespoke language for each production, recognizing the need for a singular expression in every work. His journey ranges from delving into the words of Mathematics and Physics during his studies in Telecommunications Engineering across Spain, Austria, and France, to pursuing an MFA in Theater Directing at Columbia University in New York. This path includes directing the acclaimed, nearly wordless Chilean Company La Mona Ilustre. His craft evolves from a foundational Lecoq movement-based methodology towards an in-depth script analysis for the development of a highly conceptual yet deeply human productions. His signature lies in multilayered storytelling, deforming reality expressionistically to reveal on stage the enigmatic inner landscapes of individuals. Fiercely Advocating for tenderness, Miguel fosters a nurturing, diverse, and highly collaborative rehearsal space, where each voice holds the potential to unlock the key idea for a production’s success.

Allison Esannason is a multidisciplinary artist and costume designer based in NYC. In 2019, she received her BFA in fashion design from Parsons School of Design. After discovering a deep-rooted passion for storytelling, history, and culture, Allison naturally gravitated toward costume design. Currently, her work centers on the intersectionality of culture, politics, and gender through costume design, wearable art, and installation. Currently, she works in various positions in the costumes dept. in theatre, TV, and film.

Shawn Rene Graham
Dramaturg
Shawn René Graham (she/her) is a freelance writer and dramaturg from San Jose, California who has worked with countless writers such as Walter Mosely, Nilo Cruz, Lynn Nottage and Cori Thomas. She is currently the resident dramaturg of The American Slavery Project’s Unheard Voices, the Literary Director for The Classical Theatre of Harlem’s Future Classics Series and Playwright’s Playground, and founder of All Creative Writes, an artistic assistance service designed to provide individual artists and performing arts organizations with administrative, fundraising and writing support. Ms. Graham holds degrees from the California State University, Los Angeles, and the American Repertory Theatre Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University. She joined The Field in 2012 and lives in Bronx, NY with her dog, Mercy.

Fay Simpson
Intimacy and Conflict Choreographer
Founder of the Lucid Body process, Artistic Director of Impact Theatre and Head of Movement at NYU Grad Acting Program.
Using the Lucid Body tools of somatic awareness and sensitivity with her 30 years of choreography experience, Fay has created a rehearsal process to help each actor learn how to advocate for themselves and consent to every point of contact. Her goal in guiding the building of intimate and aggressive choreography is to introduce these listening protocols to the creative process, to safely enhance the actor’s impulses while keeping the storytelling context nuanced and truthful.
